Sunday, November 7, 2004 - Would You Believe...

that for some unknown, ungodly reason, the local Fox affiliate preempted the new Halloween Simpsons episode, replacing it with Malcolm in the Middle? No explanation, commercials for the Simpsons episode just a few minutes earlier. What the hell? The new Halloween episode (and hence the new season) is an actual event in our household. We are pissed! I think I'll email my local station and vent my displeasure.

I work for a TV station (NBC). The local affiliate didn't bump The Simpsons. Local TV stations have no control over Primetime programming.

I haven't watched any TV tonight but my guess is that the football game went long and FOX had to either slide or preempt programming to get back on schedule. When the shows are on a slide, they air in their entirety but later than normal. Could be why Malcolm was on. Football always creates havock with the TV schedules.

Yeah, but Malcolm wasn't even listed on the (DirecTV) schedule! And the schedule was only pushed back 5 min., so I can't imagine what the problem was.
