Tuesday, September 21, 2004 - Foam Pumpkin Mania

I bought one of those funky foam carveable pumpkins today. Zipper thinks it's the best toy in the world. And it bounces! No, you can't dribble it, but I was slamming it against the kitchen floor and it held up to the abuse.

I can't wait until I get a real pumpkin so that I can see Zipper's surprise when he tries to pick it up!

I personally like real pumpkins the best. I was sad when my parents put up posters of pumpkins in the windows at halloween. It's so much fun to scoop out all the inerds and carve out those scary faces. The seeds are good too!

Actually, I prefer real pumpkins too. I rather like the squishy, gloppy mess! My problem is that I do these intricate Pumpkin Masters carvings, and within a few days they are toast. I usually do 3 or 4 every year, and honestly, I don't have the time to carve that many pumpkins at once! (It's also rather hard on the hands). So I think that maybe I'll buy one of two of these a year, in different shapes and sizes, to supplement the real pumpkins.

I've only seen the foam pumpkins in craft stores so far, but I think that as they catch on you'll be seeing them in more places. They came out around here last year, and people must have liked them, because there is a larger variety of them to be found this year. I bought a smallish one for $6.00, but the really big ones went up to about $15.00. So I am going to give it a try and see if it's worth the money (and the environmental impact, but let's not go into that right now).

Jade - I've been kind of blah the last few days, and just really haven't had much of anything to say. On most of the days I don't post I still read (hmmm... maybe that's why I don't post some days - too busy making comments LOL). Don't worry. I'm doing ok. I think about you lots too. I'll have to visit you and Lioness if I ever get out your way again!
