Tuesday, September 21, 2004 - A Bug Story
In Rory's blog today there is a horrible but funny story about fruit flies, and her story inspired me to write about a similar incident that happened to my brother-in-law and his first wife.
The BIL and wife were having a serious ant problem, which is pretty common around here. So they had an exterminator come in and spray. He determined that the ants were coming in through the base of the house and sprayed accordingly.
The couple came back the next day. My BIL walked into his bedroom and found his entire bed swarming with ants! Apparently the exterminator did not find where the ants were coming in, he found where they were going out. And the ants happily kept coming in from the roof and decided to have a nice nap in the master bedroom.
They had nightmares about that one for a long time!

Ew, indeed. That reminds me of the time we had - I think it was an ant problem - in our attic. Luckily the guy spraying noticed, because by the time he came there was insulation sticking through the boards in our living room ceiling. So he sprayed the attic, and Dad fixed the ceiling, and thankfully there haven't been large masses of ants in the living room any more.
That's gonna give me nightmares! My number 1 fear is swarms of insects.
